The final stage of a UK MBA, entered with a Level 7 diploma. Here is how the credits work and who accepts the route.
The MBA top-up is the most asked-about route we handle, and the mechanics are simpler than the name suggests.
The credit arithmetic
A UK MBA is 180 credits at Level 7. A regulated Level 7 diploma in strategic management and leadership is typically 120 credits. A top-up recognises those diploma credits as prior learning and asks you to complete the remainder — usually a dissertation or capstone stage — after which the university awards its MBA. The certificate is the university's MBA, not a special "top-up" award.
Which diplomas are accepted
Typically 120-credit Level 7 diplomas in strategic management, leadership or business from regulated UK awarding organisations. Each university sets its own entry requirements, and applicants with significant management experience but no diploma are often considered case by case.
Can the whole route be done from home?
Yes. The diploma is completed through an approved centre or online, and the top-up stage is studied online with the university. Some universities also offer blended options if you want campus contact.
Send us your qualification and an advisor will tell you plainly whether it qualifies, and for which universities — usually within one working day.
